Our Future.

Sheldon Kerr for Alderman

Meet Sheldon

I have proudly called Abita Springs home for the past 4 ½ years. My wife and I moved here in the spring of 2022 to build our family and are now blessed to be raising two young sons in this community. I am the current Vice Chairman of the Abita Springs Planning & Zonning Commission and have enjoyed volunteering my time and working to help guide the growth of our town.

My professional background in Project Management has equipped me with a foundation to solve complex problems while planning responsibly for the future. I am committed to applying those skills to our local government. Given the chance, I aim to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the Board of Aldermen.

My goal is to be an accessible, honest and hardworking voice for our community. I believe good leadership begins by listening and I want to hear from you. By working together, we can identify our community’s needs and collaborate on practical solutions.

Above all, I am a husband, a father, and a neighbor who is committed to ensuring that our children inherit a safe, welcoming and thriving town.

My family

For my family,
and yours

My family is at the heart of why I care so deeply about Abita Springs and its future. Like every parent, I want my children to grow up in a community where essential services are reliable, the neighborhoods are safe and every family can thrive.

The work ahead

Our Priorities

01

Family friendly growth

Plan carefully, protect our small town character, and ensure Abita Springs remains a place where families can flourish.

02

Reliable infrastructure

Focus on water, drainage, roads, and the everyday services residents depend on.

03

Government communication

Prioritize transparency between town leaders and residents, communicate clearly on town decisions and budgets.

04

Safe, connected neighborhoods

Support welcoming public spaces, community traditions, and neighborhoods where children and families can thrive.

Why I’m running

Because families deserve a town that grows with them.

The best thing about Abita Springs has always been its people. Families, friends and neighbors who pitch in, speak up, and look out for one another. I am asking for your vote to bring those family values and spirit of service to the Board of Aldermen. I vow to be a voice you can trust and a neighbor you can depend on.
